Board-certified plastic surgeon Gary Brownstein, M.D., P.C., brings over 25 years of experience to his New Jersey and Pennsylvania Cosmetic Surgery patients. Since he opened his private practice in 1985, he has been known for his surgical skill, the quality results his patients enjoy, and his commitment to patient education. Chief of Plastic Surgery at Virtua Hospital, the Past President of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgery and a teacher of other plastic surgeons, Dr. Brownstein's impressive credentials reflect his dedication to excellence within his profession.

Highly respected among his peers, Dr. Brownstein serves on the Board of the American Association of Ambulatory and Surgical Facilities (AAAASF) as Chairman of the Quality Assurance / Inspector Oversight Committee. He is also Chairman of the Electronics Communications Committee for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). He has received the President’s Award from Virtua Hospital three times recognizing physicians who have made outstanding contributions in the area of quality.

Dr. Gary Brownstein was born and raised in the Philadelphia region. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1973 prior to completing a surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Brownstein finished his formal education with a fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland, also known as Case Western Reserve University.

From 1981 to 1985, following his formal education, Dr. Brownstein was invited to serve on the teaching faculty of Case Western Reserve University, where he taught plastic surgery. Currently, he is a frequent lecturer for the AAAASF about patient safety. He marries his teaching background with his skills, education and experience to provide other plastic surgeons and patients with the counseling and education needed to make sound decisions.
